Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries
The purpose of the Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries at The Church of the Good Shepherd is to facilitate ministry growth and spiritual development for children, youth, and families, so that our entire church family can be in stronger relationship with one another and draw closer to God. This position will begin at 30 hours a week. Outside of Sunday, hours can be flexible.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An enthusiastic desire to share the love of Christ with children, youth, and families in our community – coupled with a strong personal faith
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership/management role in Children, Youth, and Family Ministries
- Able to build positive and constructive relationships via outreach with children, youth and their parents and establish safe space
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with administrative coordination of multiple activities and an ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and comfortably with children, coworkers, parishioners, the general public, and vendors
- Ability to utilize and leverage technology and social media, as well as web-based applications (Zoom, SignUp Genius, Constant Contact, Doodle Poll) and other social media outlets (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome and offer outreach to new and established families as we rebuild post pandemic
- Oversee and support all Children, Youth, and Family Programs
- Manage communications with Children, Youth, and Families using a variety of technology and social media
- Pastorally tend to families, children, and youth at Good Shepherd and beyond, which may include visits, phone calls, emails, and Zoom meetings
- Work directly with youth formation and fellowship
- Work with clergy and Director of Music to create worship opportunities for special services (i.e. Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, etc.)
- Work with Director of Music and assist with summer music camp, as well as develop other summer camp programs
- Facilitate education and lead curriculum training of Family Ministries stakeholders (Children’s Chapel, Sunday School, Youth Group, and other activities)
- Equip families with resources and education to help them become actively and intentionally involved in the spiritual formation and discipleship of their families
- Recruit, interview, and screen volunteers
- Manage budget for Children, Youth and Family programs
- Ensure Good Shepherd Safe Church Policy is followed and enforced including completion of appropriate training and paperwork
- Manage children and youth resources including building spaces
- Participate in Church staff meetings and partner in Church projects as needed
