Shrine Mont Weekend 2024

Dear friends,

Our Shrine Mont Weekend (Friday-Sunday, September 20-22) is just around the corner. I hope you are as excited as we are about this opportunity to put our busy lives behind us, deepen friendships and make new ones, and enjoy God’s creation “On The Mountain.” Please find below important information and suggestions for making your stay at Shrine Mont a special one:

  • Check-in begins at 4pm on Friday and like last year, we will be staying in the cottages “Up The Hill.” You will check-in and get your Welcome Kit on the porch of the Virginia House—the old hotel on the left as you enter Shrine Mont. We will be there to greet you—just look for the Good Shepherd Banner.
  • Dinner Friday is from 5:30pm—6:30pm at the Virginia House—please notify us (sisson@cox.net) if you cannot make dinner so we can let the kitchen know.
  • Packing Suggestions—comfortable, casual clothes are a must. Pack for the weather—early mornings and evenings around the campfire can be cool and call for a sweater or a jacket but a mid-day hike might warrant shorts and a tee-shirt. You will need at least one good pair of walking/hiking shoes and should be prepared for a possible shower.
  • Little ones might want to bring their boots for wading in the pond in search of salamanders or walking across the stream chasing crayfish.
  • Bring a flashlight, your favorite coffee tumbler for the early AM, and a water bottle for a hike. Also–the kids might ask for quarters for the soda machines.
  • Bring your pillow—one is provided but everyone likes their own pillow!
  • One small towel per person is provided. Please bring your hair dryer if needed.
  • Sports equipment: balls, bats, Frisbees, yard games, etc.
  • Bring playing cards and your favorite board game.
  • Throw a yard chair or two in the trunk for S’mores around the campfire.
  • Bring beverages—for adults and kids—and snacks to share in the evenings and at Refreshment Hour before dinner on Saturday. Most cottages have a community refrigerator.
  • Compline (Night Prayer) will be held on Friday and Saturday evening
  • SATURDAY NIGHT EVENT TBD
  • SUNDAY SERVICE AT THE SHRINE at 11a
  • Final meal after Sunday service
  • Finally—Shrine Mont has a strict No Smoking in any building as well as a firm No Pets policy.
